Well, it looks like it'll be four more years

... and this time the man's got a mandate. Not only a mandate, but what looks like a comfortable majority in both House and Senate. Hang on folks... there's gonna be some changes in the next few years. Dubya's gonna stir up some shit and it's gonna be hella exciting! Now, it may not be good exciting, but the adrenalin will fly either way. Yee-haw!!

Thank god for your optimism. I turned up the TV loud, and hid under my covers, not answering the phone and not wanting to look out the window to see some horrible sky scene from ghost busters. The world as we know it is ending.

Ok, so maybe it's not as bad as that, but I did hide under the covers.

mandate? i'd sure like to know wtf kinda mandate this monkey is talking about! i wouldn't think the american public could send him any type of mandate without an overwhelming (and to my mind, this was not) majority of the popular vote. the only thing that we could see clearly is that there are PLENTY of people who disagree with his actions enough to vote against him. i'd be tempted to say that there were plenty of people who disagreed with his actions, but voted republican b/c of their party leanings! but i can't prove such things.

Despite the closeness of the results, a loss is a loss (or depending on your party leanings, a win is a win) and he does have the majority. Even Sam said she was nervous about the imbalance! That should tell you something! I can hope and pray that the supreme court will stay balanced, but we all know it won't, and one by one our rights will start to erode, starting with gays, lesbians, and women. And minorities. And immigrants. But there is this kind of adrenaline rush to it, I guess. Kinda the one that goes "fight or flight!"

As Nellie said, I am anxious about an imbalance due to the majority of Republicans in both the House and Senate as well as having a conservative president. I am happy that Bush is going to have the opportunity to finish what he started. Though I wonder what it signifies that people voted in so many Republican candidates... even Daschle lost in SD. Maybe it wasn't so much the like of Republicans than the dislike of the Democratic candidates running? Since I'm not a Democrat, I can't say if this is a justified hypothesis...
