Fashion and drugs

Great article discussing drug use in fashion. Naturally, Kate Moss is featured front and center both as a long-term representative for the fashion world, as well as a recent representative for drug use in fashion. To yell hypocrisy is superfluous in a world mired with it.

Anyways... back to the article. It's got everything from handy fashion tips
""Do I smell Chanel?" is backstage code for "Got coke?""

and entirely new job desriptions
"There are designers who keep "muses" with good drug connections on salary."

to fascinating observations
"models are not meant to be much more than beautiful but neutral screens on which to project the allure of a new eyeliner or a bar of soap"

Thank you anonymous. Your consistent words of praise give me the motivation needed to keep it going!

When designers look for the next supermodel, they aren't looking for someone to fill out their clothes. They're looking for a walking hanger. What better way to look like a human hanger than with coke?

not that i'm disputing your point. but it's also not some sort of a designer conspiracy - they sell a product that happens to look best on walking hangars. so... you use walking hangars.

I think it was right for her to lose some of her contracts, since the stores/designers she modeled for have a very public "no drugs" policy. However, that inner coke child of 12 years old reminds me that you can still be a great person and follow through with your responsibilities AND have a little side sniff.

i don't care what anyones says about her, kate moss has always been my favorite. i agree with sam. i always fiercely defend models because that was my dream job...

I'm not defending her. I happen to think that her career deserves to go down the tubes. All actions have consequences. She is in a job that has the potential to influence a large number of people (sadly). I was just remembering how I was an addict but still managed to get straight A's. Doesn't make it okay...

i hate them all cause i wanted to be one and i wasn't tall enough. stupid size regulations....I like Dove, cause they have all types. Sorry, personal opinion. I don't really care what happens to kate.

how is it not a conspiracy? they could just as easily make fashions that look best on a walking human being.

I keep thinking that I should be living in a different century. You know, the ones where having a bit of meat on you meant you were wealthy and therefore attractive.

you know its bad when starving people surrounded by famine look more well nourished than rich people in the states.

i may be exaggerating a little. but.

well I thought we were getting better but then you have Lohan, Richie and others getting super skinny. I know I'm not that big, but I'm not that skinny. That's sick.
