"Bush extends landmark Voting Act"

"Mr Bush said Congress had reaffirmed that all men were created equal"

And hence they should be granted all the same rights, including a right to marry a partner of their choosing and be afforded legal protections under law, just like everyone else.

I guess he forgot to mention that some men are created more equal than others.

really... we can say we're all equal as much as we want. It will never be a reality. But I'm pessimistic about human nature.

psh, now we have completely different mechanisms to keep people away from the polls.

liz - what mechanisms? i am not sure what you're alluding to, other than the feeling that your vote doesn't make a difference.

rama - that's why mlk had a dream. i'd like to think that at some point it will become reality.

except maybe for men and women - i must admit that i'm becoming a bit disillusioned with the idea that the sexes are or want to be equal.

there's just so many contradictions in those that are "activists" for a cause that I can't really get behind any of them. And truly, why should I desire equality and peace for humankind? Life would be pretty boring if that became a reality. We thrive on conflict and drama. Whether you want to admit it or not, whether it's your own drama or not... we find equality between two types of people, we replace it the conflict with two other types of people... and so it goes...
