Z, you should check out what you can find on an artist named Ron English, you'd love him. There's a film making the festival rounds right now called "The Art and Crimes of Ron English" that you might want to keep an eye out for too.

subject matter aside (as that is completely at the descretion of one's own taste) composition and lighting have a lot to do with it

I think it's easier to focus in on lighting and composition if you actually know a bit about it. This would hardly appeal to your average art-technical-ignorant person. Personally, the pictures turned me off so overwhelmingly, I didn't stay to look at the individual aspects.

Sam - did you go through all the photos? There were some great photos of Warhol and Schwarzie later in the slideshow. Also, "Ken, Lydia, and Tyler" was quite beautiful.
