I refused to see the Vagina Monologues... mostly because it WAS too serious, like the guy said. This looks like something that would be pretty entertaining, as well as enlightening (to a point)... now, just have to find someone that would be willing to see it with me...
I've personally always wanted to see the vagina monologues, but i've heard they are both serious and funny, but i would definitly see this too. i did see a video, yeah not too proud, of men doing tricks with their penises. It was completely not a sexual video, they did some weird stuff. stuff i can't do with the boobs, i'll tell ya that.
yup, i saw the vagina monologues at beloit. i don't remember much. do seem to recall the generic, male-bashing progressive college propaganda that was ever so present at beloit.
the whole thing is similar to white people - slavery connection. yes, it was terrible. yes, it was unfair. but do we really need to endlessly portray and focus on the suffering? white people are evil.
men are evil. i don't understand why we cannot celebrate a group without bashing another group. feminism to some women is nothing more than man-hating. that's how they define themselves and the movement. why can't it be about celebrating women - their strength and beauty?
really, it's the generalizations that are shameful. perhaps it is a defense mechanism. perhaps it is a part of us. that still doesn't mean we cannot fight it within ourselves. resist the urge to hate someone because they belong to a certain group by birth.
it's not like i'm gonna complain considering the odds are stacked in my favor on both counts. i'm just lamenting the situation in general. they shouldn't be.
actually, out here in DC... it's a bit harder for a white male to get a job if he's up against a minority or a woman. I've heard numerous complaints...
I'd be interested in seeing this performance with the Beloit crew. We'd have some pretty entertaining conversations afterward I bet... :)
yes, that would be fun. it certainly sounds like they're going to bring it to the US so it might be just a matter of everyone getting together. perhaps at another wedding if there's a city nearby.
