Save life - stop eating

It has come to my attention that the only way to transgress our animalistic heritage and transcend to a higher plane of existance is by promoting a culture of life. We need to cherish and save life in all its forms. Here are some proposals I've come up with to help us all reach this new nirvana.

1. Stop eating altogether.

This one is key. The only way to prevent being hurtful to life around us is to stop eating it. I'm not just talking about animals. Surely plants are alive. We need to stop eating plants as well. Unfortunately seeds count too - just think about it... you're consuming a fertilized egg that may develop into a beatiful life form. We need to be kinder to our environment and save it. We need to stop eating.

2. Stop animals from eating each other.

Obviously if we're going to save life we need to prevent other animals from eating one another. It is cruel and inhumane the way animals die at the hands of their predators. We need to prevent animals from eating in order to save life.

3. Stop any dangerous activity involving any life form.

In order to preserve life we need to disable it from being able to endanger itself. There are many ways to achieve this and some have already been implemented. We need to continue the march to safety until all unnecessary deaths are eliminated!

4. Stop vaginal sex except for procreation.

Vaginal sex can lead to pregnancy. In case of an unwanted pregnancy an abortion is out of the question. Therefore we need to prevent pregnancy from occuring. Banning vaginal sex (except for procreation of course) is the most efficient way of preventing abortion of life.

4a. Stop sex altogether to save people from emotional harm. (optional, as it does not cause cessation of life in the vast majority of circumstances)

As we all know sex, in most circumstances, creates an emotional bond between people. Considering a large percentage of these bonds get broken and result in severe emotional hurt we need to prevent these bonds from occuring in the first place in order to prevent the potential (and some would say inevitable) harm they bring.

5. Keep people alive as long as scientifically possible.

We cannot in all good conscience allow people to cease living any sooner than is absolutely necessary. Thus, we need to create a bold initiative to create a vast number of health options to allow people to live as long as possible. Suicide and euthanasia will be stricken from the dictionary as these terms conflict with the culture of life we are trying to create.

And so you can see my fellow life form the only way to transcend is to die. We need to end all life in order to preserve life. So help me... help me help you become a better life form.

Aha...

Alright people, this is what I mean when I talk about the ridiculous places our society is going. We're going to legislate and outlaw fois gras now?! The only thing I can say is that it better have an ethnic food clause as I intend to use it! ;)

Your thoughts?

NYT started off by running an article on a transgender person who had problems using public restrooms due to the gender confusion (1). Now, a professor is calling for single-use toilets (restrooms with single occupancy) to not be gender specific in order to equalize the sexes and increase efficiency (2).

What do you think? Is this a long overdue and welcome move, political corectness run amok, a needless change, or something completely different?

well then...

gotta give it to stalin - the man had ideas. how do you prevent a sovereign state (such as poland) from re-emerging after you've beaten it to the ground? massacre its entire upper echelon of society - 21,768 military officers, intelligentsia and clergy.

i am speechless.

The North Korean strategy

The world never stops providing fascinating places and topics. North Korea is certainly fairly high on my list of interesting places.

Here is a brilliant analysis of their general outlook on things. Good thing Congress got to hear an extended version of this article recently.

Aid: a pissing contest?

Gotta love it when aid becomes a pissing contest (1) (2).*

"Nya, nya, nya... we gave more than you. Nya, nya, nya... we gave more than you!"

And it's all so hypocritical. Oh, we all care so much. No one turns an eye to the hundreds of thousands dying every year from malaria (3) or other easily preventable disasters. The Economist wrote recently (no linky as I read it in the actual magazine and since I can't find the article the numbers are approximate) that the world turned down a Mozambique request for $30 million in aid six months prior to forecasted floods in order to mitigate the damage. Once the floods happened they sent $200 million to help with the devastation.

Right!

Additional information on the Mozambique disaster:

*I wrote this back in January, but did not post as I was hoping to locate the original Economist article. Interestingly, since, both Yahoo and CNN pulled these stories on which nation gave more to tsunami relief.

Best condom?

Until recently this wasn't even a question for me - condoms just plain sucked. They were a necessity one had to deal with. All this changed when (partially by chance) I ended up trying a Kimono condom. The experience changed my outlook on these small rubbery devices. The potential was out there... it just had to be found.

Thankfully (and quite helpfully) Slate just performed this badly needed research. Kimono rated quite high (with a 13), but two condoms got a perfect 15 - Pleasure Plus and Trojan Supra! Ahhh, the potential!

Capitalism is a wonderful thing!!
